Roblox (formerly styled as ROBLOX ) is an open-world, multiplatform, and multiverse simulation-based MMORPG and MMOSG that allows players to create their own virtual worlds ( places ) and design their own games within the digital platform.
Roblox has over 500,000 game creators and 100 million monthly active players, who have recorded over 300 million hours of play. The game development group, Roblox Corporation, employs over 200 people in California.
In 2019, Roblox became the most popular game in the world.
Roblox was created by founder and co-founder David Baszucki and Erik Cassel in 2004. “Roblox” (a combination of the words robot and blocks, “robots” and “blocks” in English, respectively) was released in beta in 2004 under the name “Dynablocks”. The site was officially launched to the public in 2006.
In Roblox games, players explore 3D worlds. Activities in the game world include exploring, item crafting, resource gathering, and combat. Some of the most famous games are Work At a Pizza Place, Jailbreak (Prisoner’s Escape), MeepCity (Meep City), Mad City (Mad City), Adopt Me (Adopt Me), Phantom forces (Phantom Forces) ), etc..
Players can customize their virtual characters with various hats, custom faces, head shapes, body shapes, clothing, and gear. Players can create their own outfits. However, the sale of player-created clothing and collection items requires a premium Builders Club subscription, but non-premium players can still create t-shirts, which are decals attached to the front of a player’s trunk. Players can collect and trade items, especially limited edition collector’s items.
